Blessing of Quilts and Kits

On Sunday, October 15, we blessed 106 School Kits, 83 Baby Care Kits and 100 Quilts that will be sent to Lutheran World Relief.  In preparation for the blessing, everyone pitched in after worship on October 8, to assemble the Baby Care Kits and display the kits and quilts. It only took one hour to accomplish this task.  Good job, everyone!  Below the blessing are pictures of members in action to accomplish this mission.

Blessing of Baby Care Kits and Quilts

In the name of the One who calls us to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God:

With grateful hearts, we give you thanks, O God for every good gift.

As the world hungers and thirsts, we enjoy relative prosperity.  As many go without, we know some measure of abundance.

With humble and hopeful hearts, encourage us to live generously, O God.

Scraps of fabric and thread now enjoy new life.  What was once cast away as worthless, is now born anew.  We dedicate these quilts and kits to you, O God of redeeming grace.  In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit:

God bless these gifts to your loving service.  Bless the work of Lutheran World Relief and its volunteers.  Bless the hands that have made these gifts, and the hearts of those who will receive them.

God of abundance and love, you give us more than we need as you call us to share.  We thank you for every blessing.  Send these, your gifts, far and wide; and renew in us the joy of generosity.  To you be the glory, O giver of life.  In Jesus’ name we pray,
